Female Police to Go Undercover
Women police officers in the Netherlands have complained about being issued with see-through blouses as part of their uniforms. The Dutch police union says that is has has received several objections to the new clothing.
The officers feel “uneasy” and “closely watched” while wearing the new garment, said Hans van Duijn, the union chairman. “Even a white bra shows through the fabric,” he explained. The police union has received 20 official complaints, even though distribution of the new uniform has only just started. Mr Van Duijn suggested that police start to issue official undershirts to tackle the see-through problem.
An earlier version of the blouse had gold buttons on the breast pockets. They were replaced by more subdued white buttons after female officers complained that the flashy gold drew too much attention to their chests.
