  Part One Guest Injured

[Scene: Mr White (W) is asking the room attendant (RA) for help and the room attendant is giving first aid to Mrs White (M)。]

W: Room Attendant, can you come here, please!

RA: Yes, sir. What can I do for you?

W: My wife slipped in the bathroom just now. Her nose is bleeding and she can not stand up.

RA: I am sorry to hear that. Don't worry, Mr White. (She rushes into the bathroom.) Mrs White, just lean on me and I'll help you to bed. Mrs White, let me pinch your nose to stop the bleeding. (Soon the nose stops bleeding.)

  W: Oh, my goodness!

RA: Mr White, bring a towel and wash Mrs White's face, please. Mrs White, please don't blow your nose. Otherwise it will bleed again. Do you feel better in this position?

W: Yes, but my left knee is really aching.

RA: Everything will be all right, Mrs White. I'll send for the doctor. Just relax.

(The doctor confirms that it is a minor injury with no fracture or concussion.)

M: It's lucky. I haven't broken my leg. I'll be able to go to Beijing to see the beautiful scenery there.

RA: Sure, Mrs White. But all you have to do now is to take a good rest in your room. I hope you will feel better soon.

W: Would you please give her one more pillow so that she can lie better?

RA: Yes, sir. I'll get it for you right away.

W: You are most helpful. Thank you ever so much.

  RA: My pleasure.

  Part Two A Sick Guest

[Scene: Mr Jack (J) is staying in bed. He has a bad cold and feels a little dizzy. Just then the floor attendant (FA) comes in. W = Waiter]

FA: I'm sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. What's the matter, Mr Jack?

J: I didn't sleep well last night. I have got a bad cold and feel a little dizzy.

FA: Shall I send for a doctor?

J: No, thank you. I've just taken some medicine for colds.

FA: Take it easy, Mr Jack. If you drink plenty of water and have some rest, I think you will feel better soon. Do you want to have something for your breakfast, Mr Jack?

J: Yes, I am a little hungry. Just get me a glass of juice and two slices of buttered toast.

FA: All right, sir. Just wait a minute. I'll call the Room Service Section. They'll bring your breakfast to you right away.

  (after a while )

W: Room service, may I come in?

  J: Come in, please.

W: Here is your juice and toast, sir. Is there anything else I can do for you?

J: Oh, no, thank you. (turning to the FA)。 Is the post office open now?

FA: I think so. Please mail these letters for me, will you? Here is money for the stamps.

  FA: Yes, of course.

J: Thank you. You are very kind.

FA: You're most welcome. I'm happy I am able to help. And wish you be well soon.

  Part Three A Small Fire

(FA = Floor Attendant, W = Mr White)

FA: Housekeeping. May I come in?

  W: Yes, what's the matter?

FA: Your smoke detector is flashing, sir. Is there anything burning in your room?

  W: No, I've been smoking a cigar, that's all.

FA: May I check your room, sir?

  W: Sure, go ahead.

  (checks the room )

FA: Thank you very much, sir. I'm sorry to have disturbed you.

  W: Oh, that's all right.

FA: The detector is very sensitive. So if you smoke next time, please open the window.

W: Thank you for you suggestion.

FA: I hope you can stay here happily. And have a good night.

  W: Bye-bye.
