　　1. hook up

　　hook 在用作动词时有“钩住”的意思，而词组hook up 则是“联系”的意思，电影中Aaron在为Torrance解围说：“这并不能完全怪她，是我让她联系（那个舞蹈教练的）。”我们再来看例句：

　　The BBC is hooked up with Australian television by satellite.

　　英国广播公司通过卫星与澳大利亚电视实行联播。

　　2. I handed the reins over to you, you've run my squad into the ground!

　　这是Big Red 特别气愤地指责Torrance时说的话，意思是：“我把指挥权（领导权）转交给了你，你却把整个团队都搞砸了！”Rein 这个词本意是“缰绳”的意思，这里引申为“统治，领导”之意。比如：You must learn to rein in your temper. 你必须学会控制你的脾气。

　　3. stress sb out

　　这是“使某人非常紧张、忧虑”的意思。电影中Aaron的意思是不想看到Torrance被弄得过分紧张、忧虑的样子。比如：Interviews always stress me out. 面试总是让我十分紧张。

　　4. You're just not captain material.

　　Captain material 是理解本句的关键，这个词组的意思是“当队长的料”。Aaron劝Torrance放弃队长的职务说：“你只不过不是当队长的料。”例如：Ok, I'll give it up! Maybe I am just not teacher material at all. 好吧，我放弃了！也许我根本就不是做老师的料。

　　5. Let them deal with the politics.
